Anthony Kaun Hai? the title is definitely suspense filled & grabs your attention to some extent..as does the SanjayDutt-Arshad Warsi duo..back together after the Superhit Munnabhai MBBS...
so is Anthony Kaun hai as entertaining as Munnabhai MBBS? the simple answer is NO!!!
The Raj Kaushal directed film , does have some funny moments but overall, it never rises to any great heights. Even the suspense about Anthony ends in a damp squib.
The story begins with a hitman Master Madan ( Sanjay Dutt) all set to kill Arshad Warsi's character,beleiving that he is Indeed Anthony Gonsalves. Arshad swears that he is actually Champak Choudhury AKA Champ. Master gives him a chance to tell his story (in flashback)..Champ goes on to narrate a clearly inspired story about the hunt for stolen jewels,lost love, bad guys caught on camera commiting murder, witnesses bumped off, new love with song n dance thrown in liberally :D
After all this what does the hitman do? Kill Champ like he was supposed to? Or help him? I guess it doesnt take a genius to figure that out
The performances from Sanjay Dutt & Arshad Warsi are first rate..Gulshan Grover is OK...Minissha looks cute while Chetan Hansraj as the main villain, hams away.Anusha dandekar doesnt have much to do.
Music is nothing special..a few foot tapping numbers that u will forget once u are out of the hall...some of the songs are definitely speed breakers n could be done away with.
All in all, Anthony Kaun hai? is a "timepass" Movie. If u go in with low expectations like I did, u will enjoy yourself. But dont expect another Munnabhai MBBS!!
