As a tourist one must be already aware that Goa is well-known for two things: Fish and Feni (of course besides Beach) and Anand restaurant is one of those good places to entice your taste-buds.
The place does not publicize itself widely through many channels, however is a favorite spot of many people. The place is known purely through mouth-publicity and even many tourists frequent this place to try our variety of seafood and fish preparations.
Ambiance: Not very attractive or decent but maintains minimalistic needs. Kind of medium size setup with open air sit-outs and two interior sections: with AC and Non-AC. If you are with family/kids and non-smoking/non-drinking or want to have dinner at peace with not much of noise and disturbance from others, get inside the AC section - which is usually not crowded, considering many customers prefer to have a beer/smoke along with their favorite fish in a natural seat-out area. No music around.
Menu: Though it offers a range of items including North Indian stuff, remember this place is to try out some nice and fresh fish. So stick to ordering fish items only. To name few: Rawa/masala fried Kingfish, Prawns, Modso, Chonak, Bombil, Rechado Bangda, Crabs Masala, Mankyo chilli, Kalwa Masala and so on.
You can even ask to see the fish being used for preparation. Like we ordered for a Crab masala and were shown the size of the Crab to be used in this preparation.
Location: This is on Siolim - Calangute Road in a place called Zamblin at Anjuna. Right next to the main road, however kind of difficult to find, if you are not knowing the area well.
Service: Quick & hassle-free. The place starts getting crowded as the evening passes by.
Price: Economical, I would say. Though prices may vary as per season/catch, because fish or certain fish is not always easily available, however bill can be around 1000-1500 for 2, can vary depending on what drinks you order as well. Just to give an idea, a bowl full of Crab Masala will cost you about Rs. 350/-, two handful slices rawa fried Kingfish will be Rs. 320, a regular Tuborg pint will cost you about Rs. 70.
So, if you are around Baga, Anjuna, leave the beach and the exorbitantly priced shacks aside for a night and visit to this place and I am sure the food will not disappoint you.
