Story:

Confused between Love and Friendship, two extremely talented people decide to travel through a single road, hand in hand:   Cuckoo of Punjab, Amrita Pritam and Admirer of beauty, Imroz.  We get more than a view of this love story which will survive many hurdles and extends reach beyond death.

In the book Amrita_Imroz A Love Story, Uma Trilok opens a window to the room of the couple in question.   What we have to do is just peep through the curtained window and experience what the couple feels about the relation.

It is in the end of their journey together, the author comes in touch with the couple.   This helps the author and the book to pass thoughts to the readers, in person.

The book is a visual experience for it contains many paintings by Imroz which is intriguing and throws light to the relation of the couple in the question.  It is more of like a reflection of Amrita's personality in Imroz's mind.   Not in colour, but enjoyable for every visible detail, the pictures show the talent of Imroz and his commitment to Amrita.  Adding to the visual treat is some photographs from the personal collection which speaks a lot.

Another plus for the book is that it contain poems by Anita, few and at places but worth every word of it, where:

"That was an ache I smoked

And flicked off A few poems as ash."

"Flower died, but not the fragrance

Fragrance emanated from the lips, yesterday

From the tears, today

From the memories, tomorrow

Nature's detachment depicted

Flower died, but not the fragrance"

When we look back and reflect, life never ends but change form and beauty never dies but memories.  The book provides us many lively poems and one must be ignorant to believe that a poet can die, if not poetry.

The book reflects well about the end of the relation but it is practically mum on the beginning and development of their relation, the incidents and reasons leading to such a relation, escape two or three small incidents which are poetic and heart touching.  This remains as a drawback where the reader didn't get the thought process and events which leads to the unique friendship relation.

For the couple in question, they decide to stay together till death part them.  They do hope that they will remain together even after death....but....but.....it must be painful to believe that in the process they decide to end the relation in this world giving out opportunity to see new wonders of the world through a single mind.  Even the great fails he basic bus.    Probably it is the society which prevented them from this but they failed to identify an opportunity if not they were unaware of what they are missing.

To summarise, it is a poetic book on a special love.  For those who have read Amrita and reviewed Imroz's pictures, the book must be an entirely different product, probably an experience of recollection and reflection.  However, for me, it works as an appetizer to begin reading Amrita Pritam and review paintings of Imroz and more importantly to know the individuals and their thoughts.
