I have flown American airlines 2-3 times on the LHR ORD stretch and once in DEL ORD direct flight, each time in business class.
I love the spacing in business class seats, though the in-flight service cannot be called great, notwithstanding the BOSE headsets and all. Food is decidedly average. But their admiral's club lounges(for business class passengers and elite members) are one of the best. I have not found the BA, SIngapore airlines lounges in their home countries so wonderful. The typical american ideals like lots of space and plush sofas are fully incorporated into their lounges. A really good place to relax before your flight.
Their flight attendants are rude, whether in-flight or in the airport. I had my upgrade to FIRST declined at Chicago ohare on trivial grounds. The flight was ORD DEL. I later came to know that they cancel upgrades if they have demand in that class of service. They asked me for some coupon numbers, which obviously I did not have. So I lost my favourite seat in business class(first seat, window - 9J I think) and did not get my upgrade either! No wonder they are not the preferred airline of my company anymore.
However, they do offer huge discounts for corporatesĀ and that makes it attractive. And mind you, that alone!
The only reason people might prefer this flight in india is the 15.5 hour flying time it gives to chicago. And you reach there early morning to catch up for the day.
Their check-in staff at Delhi airport also has SERIOUS attitude problems. They think the airline flies all of us for free and behave in ways which seem to indicate the same. Most of the time they are discourteous and rude to the extreme. Very poor service, American!
