I happened to place an order for a book on amazon.in. On the expected date, the delivery guy came to my place in the evening at 5 PM and found my place locked, he called me up. good. I requested him to come again tomorrow during day time by afternoon and he agreed also. But the guy marked the package as "delivered" in their records. He never turned up to deliver it again. I tried calling up on his cell number but no luck.
Tried reaching customer care who were so polite and well behaved and explained to them that it shows as delivered but I am still to receive it.
They assured that someone will get back to me in 2-3 working days but non. Again I tried reaching customer care. again they were very understanding and polite.assuring their best and requested 2-3 working days time and again no response and things back to square one.
I started to realise that there is a strong gap between the customer care and the delivery team. I kept following with the customer care as I still had hopes Amazon being a premier online store but nothing worked. I also sent an email to the customer care thinking that something in written may work but nothing. I then asked them to just let me know the local warehouse address that I can myself go and collect the package but they said that its against their policies. I requested for escalation and they assured that someone is personally taking of the matter and will revert in 3-4 days.
The days passed and nothing to hear from them. Called again and same story they had to repeat in a very polite manner. Finally on 20th day of placing the order with a total of 9 follow up calls, 1 email and 5 written negative feedbacks at amazon service, I gave up and requested for a refund for which Amazon asked for another 4-5 business days. The same day I ordered my book at Flipkart and they delivered the third day. During these 20 days of followup, I had ordered and received 2 other commodities from eBay.in and 1 from Flipkart.no problem.
I got my refund from Amazon.in but to my surprise, they mentioned "incorrect address of the consignee" as the reason for refund. This is very incorrect and is not expected from a reputed brand as Amazon. Anyways it was a good learning for me. Amazon.in delivery is really really pathetic and as I mentioned before their is a total disconnect between the customer care and Amazon Transport(delivery).
