It’s hard to miss Himesh Reshammiya jumping all over the screen screaming “Ek bar Aaja aaja, Jhalak dikhlaja”. If you decide to follow his advice and watch ‘Aksar’, you would know what it means being locked up in a dark room for almost three hours.
Aksar is Ananth Mahadevan’s third venture after the failure of Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar and Dil Maange More. The filmmaker conveniently resorts to the easy formula of mixing sex with suspense, a trend set by the Bhatts.
Emraan Hashmi returns to his favourite pastime, extra-marital affair and maintains his image of a serial kisser. The storyline is very simple. Raj (Dino Morea), a business tycoon in UK and Sheena (Udita Goswami) are married, not happily obviously. Ricky (Emraan Hashmi) is a photographer, who sleeps with every model he shoots. Raj hires Ricky to trap Sheena in his love, so that he has a reason to divorce her. The next twist is obvious; Ricky is murdered and the second-half of the movie drags in search of the killer.
Do I need to say anything about performances? Hashmi does a decent job (kissing), Udita is busy showing skin and Dino is as usual giving tough competition to all the wood in the world, but I must say he has improved. It was good to see Rajat Bedi as a cop, after a long time, but unfortunately sinks into ignorance. Overall nothing great about the film except the music by Himesh, but is lost in a dud like this.
