Gets You Where You Want To Go. Review on Airtours International

Having flown with Airtours (or MyTravel as they now call themselves), many times over the last couple of years I have to say that it has its good and bad points. The good points are that they have an excellent service network (in 2003 they will fly to 26 European destinations and 19 long-haul destinations from 17 regional airports). The planes themselves are also well maintained and feel very safe. However, the bad points are the legroom, which is 28 inches (very poor, but comparable with other charters), and the added 'extras'. When flying with Mytravel you will have to pay extra for in-flight meals (£10 per person return) and for refreshments - £1 for a cup of coffee and £1.50 for a bottle of mineral water. This is my example of a flight I took to Turkey (4 and a half hours). Check in: was prompt and vaguely efficient. However, the fact that Mytravel now only allow 15 kilos each on late deals is a big minus. We were over and were charged £4 per kilo. Not the best start to the holiday... The plane: Was an Airbus A320, with the usual cramped uncomfortable conditions and the drab blue seats. However, the flight attendants were excellent and even on a late night flight, nothing was too much trouble for them. After a pretty smooth takeoff, we were served with our drinks (very expensive) After the meal was cleared the lights were dimmed (I think that was our cue to shut up and go to sleep!) Landing: Was very fast and we were swiftly inside the terminal building and our cases were swiftly returned to us and we were on our way. Overall impressions: Were average. If you can put up with relative discomfort for four hours and want cheap price flights then this is the airline for you.
