Don't ever go for Airtel GSM

I have been a postpaid subscriber of Airtel GSM for past 6 years out of which 1 year I used it in Bombay, 1 year in Hyderabad and 4 years in Kerala and I have visibly noticed the deterioration in service quality over the time.

I have seen the very best of their service in Bombay and Hyderabad and that has resulted in going for the wrong decision of taking Airtel postpaid in Kerala. My number is 9995225274, and my monthly bill on an average is between 3000-4000 their so called Platinum customer.

There is no proper coverage, call dropping is a routine issue. But to mention my worst experience, i have been facing the problem of lack of indoor coverage in my workplace which is a popular star resort where there are many domestic tourists coming from all parts of India and abroad.

If there is a network issue in such a place a hint of that itself will be sufficient enough for any mob serv provider to sort it, whereas I complained about it multiple times and they did not respond.I later has come to know how easily it could have been resolved after I had taken a secondary connection of TATA Docomo and registered a similar complaint, within 24 hours they came and installed a device called repeater which costs less than Rs 1000 and resolved the issue, which made me upset to notice that in spite of my complaints Airtel was reluctant to sort out the issue.

Later that means one year back(Feb 2011) I again called the Airtel Customer Care and specifically requested them to install a repeater like how Docomo has done. They promised call backs n number of times and never did, then has given me the number of their Nodal officer one Prijitha she was one among the worst attitude staff I have come across, during the call the call dropped and she did not call back, then she promised me a call back with solution which did not happen, then I contacted appellate authority which was another rubbish person.

At last 3 days back when I called 121 to check my complaint status their record shows so far I have called 18 times and complained the same.So far no reply is obtained. On 3rd Jan 2012 when I called they have replied that the reply has come like "this customer is eligible for a repeater"and has told on or before 5th Jan 2012 it will be installed in the premises, but now by late evening 5th when I called 121 nobody is attending my call and I tried for 3 hours to find my calls being held with music without anyone replying my calls.

I tried from my landline and it was attended immediately and when I enquired of the status of my complaint I was replied that "you are eligible for repeater"it seems they will send me a certificate like that which I can hang on my neck like a medal.

So my humble advice to you is to not to go for Airtel connections if you intend for a GSM.I have seen better service with Reliance. TATA is good but has coverage issues. The gravity of the issue is not simple:after being found from our head office that during most of the time I am out of range , they also started thinking that the calls are bunked by keeping the phone somewhere, and was issued memo about it"Means a service provider like you can even make your integrity being questioned by your employer.

Now at last after being harassed like that I have decided to port out to Docomo and to activate an option of call forwarding when not in coverage to another secondary number which I intend to take reliance.

Since we have 30 corporate connections of TATA Docomo and their 32 line PRI connection as office landline I could convince them to make higher credit limit of Rs 15, 000 pm which I accrued through Airtel in 4 years and ISD and International roaming.

Usually is difficult to persuade a service provider to port in with such offers because they will initially give 500-700 credit limit which will expire for me in 3-4 days time, and activating ISD and international roaming also would be a pain for a new client.

That's why I so far did not port out, but fortunately since TATA has offered to retain the benefits I have decided to go for it.So I advice all to take wise decisions while going for new connection if you are a business client and serious user.
