For Airtel pre-paid recharge, walk down the street and pay CASH ONLY! Don't bother recharging via internet because Airtel will take the payment but will not credit the money to your account.
I swear I've met illiterate auto wallas who value their customers more than Airtel does. The apathetic nincompoops running Airtel are proof that you can give a monkey a bath, slather him in hair gel, douse him in Axe and dress him up, but at the end of the day he's still a wild animal who steals bananas and throws faeces.
I would have sent this complaint to Airtel, IF their website was functional! I haven't seen such a dismally slow website since 1995! I find it so ironic that India is perceived to be a technology hub, but stupid local companies like Airtel- that are in the business of selling internet access- cannot properly maintain their own company websites! What mouth breathing, drooling, foot shuffling hobos these guys are!
Because attempting to visit the Airtel website makes me want to throw my laptop against the wall, several months ago I started recharging my pre-paid service at Freecharge.in, and until now haven't had any problems.
Freecharge has a functional site but Airtel does not! But yesterday when I attempted to recharge, I received an error message on the Freecharge site saying that my payment couldn't be processed because AIRTEL's systems were down! Brilliant!
Finally, when I recharged today, I bought Rs 300 in talktime and a Rs 199 2G internet pack. I received SMS from Freecharge each time saying my payment had been processed successfully, however AIRTEL only gave me credit for the Rs 199 payment, but has failed to acknowledge that I bought Rs 300 of talktime!
Also it is IMPOSSIBLE to get a human being on the phone when you attempt to access customer service from the mobile, and if by some miracle you get a human, it's an unprofessional, arrogant lumpen who wants to throw attitude. I think Airtel recruits incompetent losers directly from Reliance, because the customer service stinks just as much as Reliance.
Aside from the fact that Airtel treats people like crap and rips people off, their internet service has become increasingly unreliable. I once went 24 hours without access after making a recharge, and the connection is always spotty throughout the day. It comes and goes.
I never buy 3G because the systems are so unreliable and the speed is no different from 2G. It only makes sense to buy 3G or 4G if you live in a country that has something resembling infrastructure, but in India it's just hype and a waste of money.
