Ok, I posted how happy I was with Airtel previously here, this review:

https://mouthshut.com/review/Airtel-Broadband-review-untsunsmur

But now I'm sorry to say I'm having a bad time with them, and I have to take back at least some of what I said.

I took a 6 month connection in Aug 2013, so it should have been finishing in Feb. 14. I did NOT remember the exact date, so around that time I CALLED their customer service and asked when it's finishing. I was planning to subscribe for another 6 months, but I could not  find any "renew" link on their website, so I did that - is it really possible to believe that an ISP doesn't take payments online? IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO EXPLAIN TO THEIR CALL CENTRE THAT I WANTED TO TAKE IT FOR  6 MONTHS! I MUST HAVE CALLED FIVE TIMES OR MORE! They just as* kiss and read out the webpage. I finally understood that I CANNOT renew for 6 months, I will get a bldy BILL after *each month. Why Bharti is doing this, is beyond me?

Anyway, then the guy finally said, the connection will finish after 10th March. And their "smartbytes" usage page(which I wrote good things about before) verified this. Ok fine. THEN suddenly I got a bill in my email for about 400 Rs. I didn't understand what this was for. After FINALLY making myself understood, this is what I got: the connection DID finish on 21st Feb, NOT what their own usage meter told me, and they're now charging me from 21st Feb to 10th Mar. And of course, I don't understand how they calculated the amount, i.e. at what rate per GB.

I will NOT pay this amount. Let them take me to court. I am perfectly willing to pay my normal bill from 10th Mar to 10th Apr. Oh, and listen to this: their actual rate has gone up from approx Rs.500 a month to SIX HUNDRED AND FIFTY! AT ONE SHOT!

So, I had a good experience to begin with, but now I think it's time for another ISP. And that 400 bucks will NOT be paid.

UPDATE(7 Nov., 2014):

BHARTI ARE GETTING GANGSTA!

OK, after all the above happened, I ultimately DID renew my connection, but this time let me tell you what happened. The guy(Tithir Baidya) came over to my house, and after I showed him the Reliance website, which listed a price cheaper than his, he started feeling scared. He took out what was not exactly a "kacha" form, but it was not proper Bharti literature or anything, but simply a computer printout. On this, he gave me a plan for THREE gigs at 2 Mbps and 512 kbps after, for FOUR HUNDRED AND SEVENTY A MONTH, which is NOT STATED ANYWHERE ON BHARTI'S WEBSITE!(the lowest plan is for FIVE gigs at 2 Mbps!) Obviously this company is in desperate need of customers! Fine, I agreed.

I started using it. Now this was in April I think, and I forget the exact month, but after one or 2 months I suddenly started getting a bill for SEVEN HUNDRED AND SIXTEEN! I let it pass for some time, just because a) I was busy with other stuff, and b) the real reason, I just wanted to see how much they would try and get away with, if left unchecked. After all Tata has a repuation as a honest company, just because you're a major doesn't automatically mean you have to be corrupt. I mean, there's a picture of that Mittal guy(the boss of Airtel) in the business pages in TODAY's Times of India, for God's sake! Well, anyway, after some months I think, I ultimately DID call their call centre telling them what happened. Obviously this bright spark, Baidya, had thought maybe that I wouldn't NOTICE if the bill amount suddenly increased by about TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY! Nothing happened, no action was taken, I kept getting a bill amount for that much. I couldn't PAY the bill on the internet, because it's not possible to change the figure, so I had to go to a PHYSICAL shop and pay in cash. I'M PAYING THE INTERNET BILL NOT ON THE INTERNET! I obviously made greatly sure that I kept the receipts. Thank God.

NOW, in about September/October, I kept getting calls telling me I have "unpaid amounts". One guy even threatened me when I told him that all was settled, he said "No, you will pay!" in a threatening, laughing sort of a voice. I KEPT PAYING 470 IN CASH! Then late October, the day my connection was to expire, I went out of town. I actually got a call from them ON holiday, telling me that I had an outstanding amount. When I was trying to get away from it all, I can't explain HOW angry it makes me feel. I told them to call me on the 1st of Nov., they didn't. TODAY, I called Tithir Baidya again, he remembered ME all right, but had to look at his computer system to tell me what was up(probably lying, of course, he knew what he'd done). He simply said "it had gone UP from June and I would HAVE to pay the rest". I told him I had HIS handwriting telling me I had SIX MONTHS from the time I took the plan, ON BHARTI PAPER! So, IF this case goes to court, I would win, even though it's not standard Bharti literature. AND I checked Bharti's website, the cheapest plan is STILL the 649 one(FIVE gigs at 2 Mbps and 512 thereafter, so obviously, NOTHING has gone up!) He told me I had to call the call centre to disconnect, with a tone that suggested that he couldn't give a flying fck. I called, after much screaming, and after the girl spoke to her BOSS(so, management *is involved, it's not like they don't know what they're doing), I was told I would have to pay the outstanding amount, otherwise they wouldn't process my disconnection request. "PROCESS MY DISCONNECTION REQUEST" - what is there to process? Just get me OUT of it, stupid c*nt!

So, when taking money, things work like clockwork, but not the other way around. NEVER EVER GO TO THIS COMPANY!
