Set in modern day New York City, Meg Cabot's Airhead series tells the story of stereotypical tomboy brainiac Emerson Watts who meets with an accident and finds her brain transplanted into supermodel Nikki Howard's body. That's the most of the first book- Airhead.
The rest of the first book and some of the second book Being Nikki shows her dealing with her new model life and 'subtly' trying to tell Em Watts' best friend Christopher Maloney that she loves him. Brandon Stark, son of Nikki's employer Robert Stark and her on again off again boyfriend, Lulu Collins, Nikki's best friend and loft mate and Christopher Maloney, her one true love, are some of the recurring characters.
This series has three books- Airhead, Being Nikki and Runaway. Like every Meg Cabot book, it deals with the 'typical' life of an American teenager. Basically- love, peer pressure and bonding with girlfriends. This book has a few extras in the form of fashion, photo shoots and runway shows. Meg Cabot has used the concept of brain transplant- which very few other books use- and put it in a book with a background of a chick-flick. Which is rather odd if you ask me.
These books can be read if you're looking to blow off some steam and goof off, but there's nothing extraordinary about them. Adolescents, especially, will enjoy this book as this book is not only written in very simple language, the tone is friendly and the words- colloquial.
It is written in the first person, Em Watts aka Nikki Howard serving as both narrator and female protagonist.
Dating advice, fashion advice, using every single cliche and stereotype ever existent, Cabot has written this book as some kind of a teenaged documentary book. I have to admit- it's a fun book, but rather asinine. You won't realize time passing by so it proves to be a good read in a waiting room or something like that. One time read types. Nothing too exciting about it. Read it if you're young and bored.
