AE DIL HAI MUSHKIL – Whirlwind of relations!

How to begin writing about a movie that takes you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions – love, hatred, anger, frustration, and the most delicate one that will always be close to anyone’s heart – their first love. We all have been there and done that, no shaking your head in denial. That feel and warmth can never be replicated and that’s why when the first love calls you run in that direction.

K Jo is back with the movie that challenges to leave you dazed and wept from all the whirlwind of relations and emotions. Because it is freakishly true! We have had movies that show how love should be pursued, nurtured and be forever. But here, in this movie, Director Karan Johar has scripted the stark truth that every heart has suffered and known, closely. The desire to be loved by the one you love. If not, then go somewhere to get it but again, come back quenched because it was not what you wanted.

Doesn’t that sound complicated?

It is complicated but that’s the story of this movie. This is how the emotions will flow and strike you in every frame.

This story has a rich brat, who does what everyone tells him to do, Ayan(Ranbir Kapoor) an MBA from London and an aspiring singer. He is like the Justin Bieber who hit the internet and went viral. Ayan has 4 hit songs in mere 5 years and he has a private jet and knows how to party harder than anyone. He meets Alizeh Khan(Anoushka Sharma) in one of the nightclubs and they get little more than comfy. But Ayan is immediately friend zoned after their little moment because Alizeh has just moved on from her first love Ali(Fawad Khan). Ayan keeps hoping like a prune-puppy that he and Alizeh can be more than just friends and the movie runs in that plot.

They become best friends, even after the little moment(Thank God!). when things start to become all fluttering hearts and blossoming flowers, Ali comes back and Alizeh moves away from Ayan.

Ayan’s feelings are trapped and sometimes all over the place, and then he meets Saba(Aishwarya Rai Bachchan), who is a poetess and a divorcee. She’s older and mature, but downright beautiful. They have their affair but somewhere Ayan cannot feel what he wants and is left a void. Everything is just perfect but then what’s not here.there.where is it? Alizeh is what he wants and knows. That girl with carefree air who unstrung all his insecurities and made him believe in fate, reality and love.

This relatable feeling grips at one’s heart.

Cameo appearance of Shah Rukh Khan as Tahir, Saba’s husband, is also powering. The exchange of dialogues that they share makes you ponder why are they even divorced in the first place. Such settled and mature conversations, beautifully entwined emotions in those speaks how perfect are they when spoken out of SRK’s mouth.

So, who ends up with whom? No spoilers review. This needs to be watched, my dear reader.

Karan Johar has outdone it this time. I feel as if SOTY never existed, just bump in a road, just a bump. He is able to bring back all those romantic love story jitters back on the screen and work his magic, only the way he can.

Songs are the once that you keep humming even after leaving the auditorium. After reaching home, trying to fall asleep and still, hummm the next morning. Arijit Singh has rasped his voice for the title track and trust me, you ain’t gonna stop singing that.

Let’s talk about the most talked stuff about this movie.(No, it’s not Fawad Khan)

Ranbir chocolate boy Kapoor. He has completely stolen the show from the ladies. Its’s all about his acting, presence, and expressions. Even with little twitch and wavering eyes, you can know what he is trying to convey. The Rockstar, really, did it this time.

Anoushka Sharma as Alizeh is a phenomenon. This is a new side of her acting skills and newer than her usual roles. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the beauty, this is the comeback she deserved. The transformation is eye-boggling. Simply and truly ravenous!

Alia Bhatt as DJ Alia didn’t rock the floor that hard but we all celebrated The Breakup Song.

K Jo has dared to look and make a film that speaks of true emotions and the real things that go on. His movie is a festive of emotions that run and burst in all direction, but end up giving a wonderfully colourful lesson.

This is your movie goal for this weekend. Celebrate love!
