Acer Review : Acer 5755 G
With the growing number of brands and variation of model, buying laptop is always going to be the tough task. But if someone is with the clear of thoughts that for what purpose/task we are going to use the laptop, selecting the proper laptop will be comparatively easier than with random selection. Next job is to find the one in proper price range so that it can be perfect value for the money...
Despite being well-awarded in Computer peripherals and configuration, I was not getting any suitable laptop in my required configuration and amount range. After regular Browsing online shopping sites and visiting stores, I finally stamped my deal with Acer Aspire 5755G.
Let me give its brief configuration and I will start my review...
Model no- Acer Aspire 5755G
Intel-core I3-2370M (2.4 GHz, 3MB cache)
15.6'' HD LED LCD
500 GB HDD
2 GB RAM
6 Cell li-on Battery
1 GB nvidia Graphics Card
Dos
Price- 31,500.00
My purpose of buying laptop: for mathematical programming and other general use and simple entertainment (not for gaming purpose).
Outer Look-
I liked the color of the laptop I bought as it has its front cover in blue. Though 15.6'' screen might be too big for frequent travelers, I found ok for myself as difference of 2 inch won't be much different. The most importantly, body of laptop looks strong enough (but please don't try dropping it from table or high place :P )
The inside boarder cover near screen is black in color and the screen part is comparatively thinner than other laptop, still strong.
The remaining look in outer case may not look so good but look is not surely so beautiful but beauty and look is surely not everything we look in laptop.
Configuration-
The second generation I3 was surely not of my best choice but to match up with my required budget and to have dedicated graphics card I bought this one. So, for general use it will be sufficient. Plus 1 GB dedicated graphics card of NVidia will help you to have smooth experience of windows 7 (or upgradable OS) and even movies too. The laptop with 15.6'' screen gives a separate numeric keypad which is the type I wanted. As I have to work with ubuntu system also, I choose product without having window. Even if I decide to play games some day, the Graphics card will be of great help.
The RAM memory of 2 GB might be little in these days, but you always have a option to expand by putting another 4 GB in its another slot.
Performances
the most important thing is the battery life. It has given the backup of at least 4 hours till today. Despite of my regular using of more than 12 hours in a day, I have never found the symptoms of it laptop getting hot.
Sound quality is in medium level as it is not like HD sound. For me, I don't like the high volume sound, so I am happy with this.
With its inbuilt mic, speaker and 1.3 mp HD webcam, you will enjoy the video calling. The wifi perfomance is very good if wifi network is strong, but if it is weak with only one or two level of signals, then it may not connect properly.
Optical mouse works smoothly but it doesn't have one touch access to lock scrolling during typing.
Buying Acer product:
The one of the important fact why I bought Acer product is because of its 3 years of total warrantee. (1st year normal warrantee and I myself extended the other two in addition of Rs 999. Even charger is covered in this warrantee. Acer's product is taken as one of the best product, so I just hope I won't need any service center visit in next 3 years.
You will find many laptop of same configuration which will be at least 5 thousand more of the Acer value. So in or other way, it is intelligent to not too spent much just on brand name (neither the Acer has any bad name in market, so its brand value surely comes in top 5 in India.)
The product I bought is about 2.6 kg, so along with the charger, frequent traveler might feel it heavier than other product, but for those who can afford, ultra book is already in the market.
Instead of two 3.0 sub port, Acer has only one 3.0 usb port while the other two are 2.0 usb ports.
Battery life could have been more long lasting, at least up to 4.5 hours, but for 15.6" screen laptop, you may hardly find this facility.
There is no touch key for wifi, music and other function, but with the help of function key (Fn written in blue word), we can use the function.
In some or other way, According to my estimation and expectation, I got it as good value of money with 3 years of warrantee in affordable amount.
Lastly:-
Buying the proper laptop/notebook needs a good homework like reviewing a product, looking at services provided, brand name and good configuration as of our need. Because of new launches of festival product, there may not be this model number available, but the wide range of laptops available with Acer will surely be helpful for you to save your money this diwali.
Happy Festival :)
