When I got a call from the marketing executive of ABN Amro that they are providing a credit card free for the first year, I never realized that it is going to give me nightmares! After the formalities are over I received the card and within a week got a statement that asked me to to pay Rs.600 for ''Membership fee''.
I contacted the customer care and told them that ''If I need to pay any fee, why do you call it a free card?, If it is not a free card, please cancel the card'' [ This is because I've already got 2 cards for which annual fee is waived for the first year]. But the response was ''As all systems are down, please call after 30 min''.
When called after 30 min the response was no different!. The biggest shock was the next statement! That statement had penalty Rs.200 for not paying the Membership fee!. And now even after frequent calls to cancel the card, I'm still getting interest-added statements!
I really wonder is there anybody with a sense who can take care of this!
I strongly recommend not to go for this card!
