#AbTakChappan2: Ok now this was the film I was kinda dilly-dallying to watch. Finally watched is today and man what a movie. Brilliant direction, amazing cinematography and above all incredible performances by the stalwarts; #NanaPatekar, Mohan Agashe and Vikram Gokhale
Though the film is based on the encounter specialist "Saadhu Agashe" played by Nana Patekar, it is more to do with Saadhu Agashe being used as a pawn in the game of throne(no pun intended here).
The performances of Nana Patekar Encounter Specialist- The Protagonist and Vikarm Gokhale Home Minister- The Antagonist, in their roles are perfect to the "T" and so was Mohan Agashe. Gul Panag as a crime reporter is ok but not convincing. I don't think she is cut out for such roles. The surprise element was Ashutosh Rana. Surprise only because he is totally unrecognizable. He is a very superlative actor, however, I felt his skills were not used to the optimum given the fact that he didn't have much to do.
The plot becomes kind of predictive post the interval. However, I was a bit confused by the last dialogue that Saadhu Agashe says to Police Commissioner Pradhan(Mohan Agashe): "Aman ka dhyan rakhna". Aman is the Saadhu Agashe's son's name who is shot down on the beach.
What I liked about the film is the simplicity with which it is made. There are no over the top performances, no ghastly killings; I mean there are killings definitely as they are encounters, however, it is very unlike a shootout at lokhandwala types. The dialogues are crude and raw with double meanings, however they do not sound cheap but add as a humour element. The use of cuss words are not beeped but strategically silenced.
Also, the film is not stretched unnecessarily. The length(1h45min) of the film is apt based on the story. You don't feel bored even for a minute coz though you feel its a drag at the beginning; say 5-7mins or so, its actually moving very fast.
All in all it's a must watch film if you wanna watch good performances. In my review meter, I would rate this fil a 4.2/5
