QUOTE: '' IF SRK THINKS HE'S THE KING OF BOLLYWOOD THEN I'M THE ACE'' - AAMIR
WELL SAID AAMIR
The bollywood industry from its early years has produced such legends which will never be forgotten in its lifetime, their was dilip kumar, raj kapoor, rajkumar, dev anand, in the early 50's and 60's who produced such golden cinema, which shines even today, they set the tone, they gave birth to true acting and inspired the thousands in india to follow in their footsteps.
After them came thousdands of actors some went without making their mark, while some stayed and brought magic into bollywood, amitabh came, dharmendra came and together they brought with them came the sholay, to join such memorable masterpeices such as devdas, mughal-e-azam, mother india and so on.
They joined the list of the elite and together they turned bollywood into a magnificent sight, the 70's we went into and the 80's, more memorable movies we saw, more magic we see with amitabh, dharmendra, dev anand, dilip kumar, rajesh khanna, jeetendra, sanjeev kumar, mehmood, and so on. but as we move on into the new era of bollywood into the 90's, india had to create one more magician, in my eyes not a magician, but the wizard, the king of all great actors, it was none other than my all time greatest actor aamir khan. Just like amitabh, dilip, rajesh kapoor, he started with a dhamaka.
First qsqt I first watched this film in 1998, back then I wasn't an admirer of amir as I was after that movie, in which I saw one of the most spectacular performances by any actor in bollywood so far, the zest and the extent of perfection to which he played the role was simply out of this world, juhi was also great in the film, but it was amir that captured me at that very moment.
At this point BELIEVE IT OR NOT BEFORE AMIR I WAS AN ADMIRER OF SRK(khkn, ddlj, baazigar only because of these movies). I KNOW, I KNOW I WAS A TOTAL IDIOT WHAT WAS I THINKING, but I never really saw much of amir to appreciate his talent, but when I saw this movie I was just amazed by him, and the ending was heartbreaking.
This was infact the biggest hit debut by any actor and the film and aamir itself had become an inspiration, for all debutant actors such as srk(ddlj) and hrithik roshan(knph). this film was just the beginning of aamir's amazing journey.
Next movie I saw was dil: yet again this guy never dissapointed me, he was just getting better and better, his versatility his true acting talent came alive and it glued me to the tv whenever I watched him act, and I have no problem watching the film over and over agian. the story continues to hold the viewers interest but what stuns us all is the unique chemistry between aamir and madhuri in the film, they were both simply brilliant, the art of their acting was so brilliant, they had totally absorbed their characters to the point where no flaws could be seen. but for me it was aamir who stole the show.
But then the stars of the 90's had started to rise, following amir on his journey to join bollywood's legends, along came the talented srk, with his big hits khkn, ddlj, and baazigar, and then came salman with an array of hits to his name such as maine pyar kiya, hum aapke hain kaun, saajan and so on, other stars such as ajay devgan, akshay kumar, sunny, were also making a name for themselves in this evolving industry.
But it was always aamir, who lead the way, and proved time and time again to be the master art of acting. he produced more glorious displays, such as dil he ke maante nahin, joh jeeta wo sikandar, baazi, akele hum akele tum, where we saw a different side to his actiing as a father role, showing that he is no repetitive donkey like srk, showing that he can be at his best in all types of characters, whether they be versatile or romantic or even comedy.
Speaking of comedy who can forget his memorable laugh riot in andaz apna apna, a great comedy, that had me laughing till I cried, I had my worries over aamir doing a comedic role as I thought he was more suited to versatile roles. but once I watched the movie, I became his biggest fan as he totally proved me wrong. it is important to show all sides of your acting talents if you are to get to the top and and join the elite list of bollywood legends, he is done just that.
His street guy roles in rangeela and ghulam, showed me the scope of this guy's acting talent, and at this point I knew that their is no one better than this guy at the moment.
Like all actors amir had his flops but their werent that many besides mela and j.zindabad, the guy had so many hits, you would almost forget that he even he had flops. amir's flops put him back into the rat race with the others but it didn't take him long to rise above the rest yet agian, after mela he never looked back and produced more stunning performances such as hum hain rahi pyar kai(loved this movie) and his towering performance in earth, ishq and r.Hindustani was great to watch, and he was excellent in mann, which was a film that sort of nearly just a liiiiitle biiit brought me to tears.
Aamir khan was reigning supreme, but srk was just right behind (how?, don't even ask) everybody was going on about srk after dtph and kkhh, he was getting awarded and credited for trashy performances. Aamir was just a world apart from that twat, and their was no comparison then and not even now.
But so what if srk had hits like kkhh, or dtph, it was nothing compared to what aamir delivered after this. the awesome trio is what I call it, after continous stunning performances in the 90's and without doubt the best actor in that decade, he came up with the awesome, mindblowing sarfarosh, it was one of the best thrillers I have seen, it was actually the first time I saw aamir khan as a police officer in any one of his films, and my oh my wasn't he a gem in the movie. it was just awesome to watch him in the action sequences, and yet again playing his character to such perfection.
Wooooow!!!! How much more gold is this guy gonna deliver, just when you?re running out of superlatives for this guy, he and ashuotosh gowarikar, produce india?s baby LAGAAN. This was no ordinary movie, nothing crappy like the whole good guy falls in love with girl, girls father doesn?t approve, the father kills boy?s family and good guy gets revenge blah blah blah. This was a masterpiece woven with unimaginable beauty, it was a story about human courage, a story about how good will always conquer evil if there is belief.
It was triumph for Lagaan XI as they won on the last ball, but as usual, it?s the captain who has to shine and he did, it was bhuvan played by who else? Aamir. After his performance I was left speechless, the film itself left me gobsmacked, this had to be the best bollywood movie of all time without doubt. After this unforgettable performance, aamir for me became not only a legend, but the legend of all legends, when I watch him in lagaan over and over again it was like watching the great legends of the past rolled into one.
Lagaan was without a doubt shockingly brilliant, but the rollercoaster was not to end their for amir as he produced another fantastic performance within the same year in DCH, his role yet again like always was
