I bought my Rx100 in 1987 - one of the first models with almost 75% of the parts being Japanese. it is a blue coloured one. nearly 10 years after I bought it, the vehicle looked new because I used to tend to it like as though I was taking care of my baby. I was doing my degree when I bought it and almost all the girls with me used to oodle at the bike. little needs to be mentioned regarding the performance of the bike. because any auto enthusiasist knows well that it is one machine which has ruled the minds of bikers though it is just a 100 cc bike. what needs mention is that provided the rider has a stable mind with realistic notions regarding his driving skills and the machines capacity, it shows its power when the throttle is just pushed that little bit ones beyond the 60km/hr mark - what I mean to say is that the machine just takes off like a wild horse beyond this speed - it appears to gain the second life at that stage and the rider starts enjoying the smooth but definite WHINE of the engine. all the other bikes I have rode especially in the 100 cc category drop in their power beyond this mark of 60 km/hr, here it is the reverse - and the bike just surges ahead with new life.

Nearly 15 years even the chrome over the mudguard and the exhaust pipe was as good as new, but after that due to lack of attention rust started setting in. I did registration twice - and had to do a paint job the second time I took it for registration. the original fittings, especially the chrome plating was too good(it lasted a good 15 to 20 years), but the chrome parts I replaced has started developing rust in a few months time itself. that shows the quality of parts that YAMAHA had provided nearly 20 years back. the engine has not been touched, having covered only 65000 kms todate. I changed the battery to a 12 volt with the necessary electical wiring changes and I also switched the back wheel to that of an yezdi with Zapper tyres. at the age of 41 I still race the bike at 100 kms an hour over smooth and wide streches of roads - I love seeing the machine surge ahead of the surrounding traffic leaving behind the present generations bikes gasping for air, especially when some of them try their luck to beat me at it. the present 150 cc bikes cant be chanllenged because they have more reserves of power. the stability and security one feels when one cruises at 80 kms/hr is unparalleled in this category of bikes - probably due to the lower ground clearance and perfect engineering and designing. my wife always pokes fun at me for keeping such an old and skeleton like looking bike(the present day FZ16s look MACHO besides the drab looking RX100), but I just quietly ignore her comments by sighing in my mind - Hey! girl you dont know what you are talking about, so God Forgive her. I would fight tooth and nail if someone else talks bad about my Rx 100. There are people coming by the dozen who enquire whether I would part with the bike(would I sell my baby? No way). some of them think I would be naive and sell the invaluable piece for a pittance - but others are there who say they would depart with a ransom for the bike(because it is so much wanted in the market).

I have kept it for posterity. it is part of my life now.
