I flew with Virgin to mumbai after changing my mind to fly with Air-India(thanks to all the reviews).
I found their service quite good and the flight attendentsĀ professional as well. The flight was punctual from London. On the way back we were delayed by an hour. But, the attendents kept us informed about what was going on all the while. The food on-board is ok. If you are a hearty eater like me then the whole meal would probably still not be enough for you . I found the quantity a bit less compared to other airlines.
The best part is probably the entertainment where you get a good number of movies and other programmes to watch. I travelled by economy which was the usual stuff. They also have a Premium economy class which has slightly more plush seats.
The online check-in facility is good and saves you alot of time at the airport. I saw how people that had not done online check-in were queing up, while the seperate online check-in counter for those that had done it was totally empty. I would strongly suggest doing your online check-in to avoid the hassle. A little tip here - online check inĀ opens 24 hours before the scheduled departure. I did my check-in 23 hours before the deperture times and 90% of the seats were taken. So be on your computer 24 hours before the departure if you want the best seats. Also a further tip from one of my pilot friends, book seats near the emergency exits. These seats have more a lot more leg room.
If you are someone that travels light internationally then this flight is for you. You get what you pay for. The weight allowance for economy is 23 kilos and hand luggage is 7 kilos(which includes a laptop if you are carrying one).
