Veegaland currently renamed as wonderla is a water theme/amusement park located near kakkanad in kochi owned by the V guard group. It is a premiere amusement park in the country and is a sister concern of wonderla bangalore and predates it.
Veega land opened in the year 2000 and is amusing young and the old alike since its inception. There are many wet and dry rides situated inside and is mainly a warter theme park. ive visited veega land many times over the years and is opinion that the qilaity of the wet rides have depreciated considerably over the years and on the contrary the quantity and quality of the dry rides have improved a lot.
The biggest plus point here is the general cleanliness, this is great when using wet rides. As a measure to improve cleanliness, as they say, you are not allowed to bring in food or drinks, but canteens are available at reasonable rates. The are good locker facilities available, change rooms are all well maintained.
The ticket rates have increased over the years, when I went five years back tickets were under the 500 rs range, currently the site advertises varied rates for weekdays, weekends and public holidays and also there is a peak time rate for jul 18-21. there is concession available for children. weekday rates for adults is advertised as 630, 820 for weekends and 900 for peak time.
Also there is a fastrack ticket, which is twice the amount of normal ticket on that day, which ensures queue free rides, these ticket numbers are limited to 500. Concession are available for college and school students, documents have to be submitted at the gate for getting the concession.
Overall the trip to veega land adds a newer dimension to otherwise laisd back trip of Kerala, and families travelling with young ones should definitely visit here. It is also a standalone holiday options as the range of entertainment offered is manifold.
