Tonight Matthew I'm going to be.....

Hosted by Matthew Kelly (who can be a tad irritating), Stars in Their Eyes is a show where people dress up and perform as their favourite artists. Lasting one hour and usually screened on a Saturday or Sunday night it is very entertaining.

Each week 5 contestants take part in the show, competing for a place in the grand final, no great prizes on offer, just stardom! We receive a look at each contestant in their day to day life before a brief interview with Matthew. This gives those sad people amongst us the chance to try and guess who the contestant is going to be when they step through those famous sliding doors. The contestant then disappears through the doors and reappears 5 seconds later fully transformed and sometimes this can be quite a transformation!

Then we have the performance….usually these are very good and sometimes better than the stars themselves! Often the stars the contestants choose to be are quite obscure and people I have never heard of but I usually recognise the songs and therefore the voice.

The audience vote for their chosen winner once all 5 performances have been completed and they have seen a recap of all performers. The voting is supposed to take place purely on the sound-a-like quality rather than look-a-likeness (I don’t think that’s a word but I like it and you know what I mean!) Once the winner has been chosen they get escorted through the corridors of he studio and repeat their performance. Voting for the grand final is a little different. Eight contestants make up the line up for this show and voting is cast by viewers who phone in to select their chosen winner.

The show is well structured and is definitely more entertaining than the karaoke you get in your local pub! If you’re not going out then it’s something worthwhile watching.
