This is a review of the support provided by auctions.indiatimes.com. They have a toll-free number through which I have lodged my complaint at least 30 times over the last 60 days. (My complaint is a very usual one for indiatimes.com - the security deposit they take to allow you to bid in the auctions, doesn't get refunded.) Following are my observations:


The staff is extremely incompetent, to say the least. They all have been trained to just mouth some sentences to the effect that my complaint has been transferred to the concercerned department, and they will revert to me in 48 hours. Needless to say, this has not happened in all my 30-or-so attempts, except twice.


Once, I got an email, to which I responded giving all the details I had. He replied thanking me profusely, and committing to settle this in 3 days. That was over a month back, with no progress since then.


On another occasion, one Mr. Anurag called me several times over a span of 2-3 days and showed genuine promise of solving the issue. Unfortunately, I haven't heard from him since.


So, my final piece of advice to everybody reading this is (and this might sound a bit harsh): If you are even thinking of using Indiatimes' e-commerce sites .... DON'T ... !


Update: As of Jan 22, 2007, Indiatimes Auctions solved my issue by quitely returning the Security Deposit amount. This is a full 90 days after I first called them up. The reason for the delay? I had not given them some "Transaction ID" along with the complaint - something which I never got from them, in the first place.
