Following is the real incident happened with me during my first and last visit at McDonald's
Me: One Paneer Wrap and Two Mexican Wraps, please.
Cashier: Would you like 1 extra Cheese or Two.
(Suddenly, I recalled reading an article on Cheating by McDonald's on this very respectable Site Quora.)
Me: NO EXTRA CHEESE(in a bit loud tone but he didn't took the hint).
Cashier: Ok Sir.
My wife to me: Get one French Fries, maybe a small one.
Me to Cashier: One French Fries.
Cashier: Sir, would you like Medium or Large?
Me: Small, please. Don't you have small one?
Cashier:(hesitantly) Yes Sir, we have(and gave me a weird look as if I am an Alien & Still he didn't took the hint.)
Cashier: That will be Rs. 414/-.
I gave Rs. 2000/- note and he asked for Rs. 4/- change. I gave Rs. 5/- coin. He returned Rs. 1600/- instead of Rs. 1591/-. I returned him Rs. 10/- telling that he returned extra money.
Cashier: Sir, why don't you seat while we pack your order.
I was very happy so far and amazed by the professionalism.
We sat on the table waiting for the order to be ready. Suddenly I felt something is wrong and I started checking the bill. My wife saw me checking the bill and immediately warned me to not to start fight(who knows you better?). I told her, I never start fight but I do end the fight.
While scrolling the bill, I saw'Extra Cheese' charges in both Wraps. I went to Cashier and asked why you added Cheese despite my clear instructions to not to add. He said that by mistake he added'Extra Cheese'. I asked how come you repeated same mistake in both items? He never expected that someone will check the bill at McDonalds and if he / she checked will never come to Cashier for explanation. He was unable to reply and kept blabbering which only he can hear or understand.
I repeatedly requested him to remove'Extra Cheese' as the item already has Cheese in it. The cashier told me it's not possible to change the bill in a very rude manner. This is where and when I lost my temper and shouted on the top of my voice about their'Dirty Tricks'.
Within couple of seconds, from nowhere, the Manager appeared and without asking me anything started apologizing to me and insisted to take refund of the extra money charged. I was confused that how in the world he came from nowhere and got the knowledge of wrongdoings of the Cashier in no time.
He tried his best to calm me and was successful. He offered apologies and also insisted to take refund for Cashier's mistake(?)
On my wife's insistence that the poor guy will be made scapegoat and the real culprit will go free, I didn't take the matter further but did warn them to stop cheating fellow Countrymen.
I then started investigation into the matter and talked with my cousins who are in restaurant business about the incident. Both confirmed my analysis that employees of these JunkFood companies are compelled to sell more and more even when the Customer don't require and that too without their knowledge. Both told that they have also worked in such outlets for some time and were fired for not cheating Customers.
My other observation for such JunkFood companies is that their Cash Register don't have dual screen. Customer cannot see the live inputs of their order. This is how you never have any idea till you physically verify the bill. If you ask about wrong additions, the cashier will first start with a weird look and will tell you'the bill is already printed and he / she cannot do anything about it'. If you insist, they will start crying that their job will be at stake if he / she tries to alter the bill.
Secondly these JunkFood companies have created so much social hype in India that if someone tries to verify the bill, family members will stop them from doing so as they(especially kids) are poisoned that checking Bill is considered very rude and act by illiterate or mentally backwards by their effective advertisements.
On further investigation, I came to know that all these JunkFood companies have terabytes and terabytes of data on impact of their JunkFood on human health but are successfully hiding from Health Authorities by giving millions in bribing. They also have your personal data(collected through their App and when you give your mobile number or email address for registration to get reward points or discount) which they are analysing and using in brain washing by different advertisements. Children are their primary and easy targets.
Now you have got idea on these JunkFood companies' DirtyTricks, save money by checking Bill before paying.
To all my fellow Indians,
I have decided to not to go not only to McDonald's but to any of such multinational JunkFood companies who cares only for their profit, go to any extent to steal our money and never care for our health.
I know it is difficult to stop our family to go for these JunkFood but ensure that while damaging your health by consuming their JunkFood, that you don't damage your pockets too. Saved money will be useful in buying medicines for the side effects of such JunkFood.
We made the poor & hungry ZOMATO guy world famous for eating couple of spoons from the food delivery. What should we do for these JunkFood companies who are stealing Billions & Billions every year by using our own Countrymen right under our nose?
To all those who are reading this post: I urge you to share this post as much as possible so that all those who are victim of such scams of these JunkFood companies can save themselves from fraud.
