I bought the WagonR Vxi Euro-3 model (Silky Silver colour)in April 2005.
I regret even today not buying the yellow color...The yellow looks amazing, and
silver is too common now.
Anyway, It has been six months and about 4500 kms on the odometer.
It has performed according to my expectations.
The goods:
--------------
Wider tyres in Vxi (top end) model. Even Santro does not offer them at any variant.
Fuel efficiency of 13-14 kms in Pune city traffic with random A/C usuage.
Was rock stable even at the speed of 135 kms/hr on the Pune-Mumbai
Expressway(with 3 adults and AC on). Even tried changing lanes in a fast and zippy
manner. No wobbling of any kind. So the apprehensions that its height may cause
any instability is ruled out.
- Exteremly good low end torque. Very less gear changing in low speeds.
Can shift to 5th gear at just 40 km/hr.
Good AC.
Cheap spares.
Very spacious dash board. Just check even the Hyundai Acsent or Ford Ikon and
compare. This itself makes it look very big to the driver.
Lot of holes of space here and there.
Very big boot for a hatchback. Even the higher priced Swift will be ashamed with
atleast this one.
10 Lots of glass area, so visibility is good.
The bads:
---------------
- Odd looks at first instance. Takes time to get used to (like slow poison). At times
looks something different like a Volkswagon Beetle. The car makes sense only
when you use it regularly and experience it's practicality first hand.
- AC blower very noisy at 3rd level. (Out of 3 levels, the 2nd is best, 1st is good for
night drives only)
Looses quite some power with AC on.
On potholed roads of Pune, shakes like a snake on big holes(but still doesn't
leave the road grip).
Can't squeeze a 3rd person on the back seat.
Shifting the car in 1st and reverse gear is pathetic. I think Getz has
one of the best gear shifts for hatch back car. Compared to the Getz it
is third grade.
- Rear foot room may be less if the front people pull the seats quite back.
Overall, rear foot room is on the lower side.
- Power windows only on front windows even on the Vxi (top end model). Santro
provides power windows only all 4 windows in its top end variant.
- No rear wiper. Santro provides it on its top end model.
Suzuki has tried to get the maximum space in somewhat Alto's footprint.
Very cleaver use of space. You never feel cramped, especially the people in front,
with good foot room and extemely spacious headroom. I doubt if I will feel so
spacious again in any other car after the headroom I have enjoyed on
the Wagon R..............
If you want a extemely practical city car with some usage on the highway and you are
not more than 2-3 poeple in your family, then this is the one.
