Mr. Bhaduri has very clearly specified that this book is just the second one in the M-B-A series. Good that he did so becoz if we consider this to be the sequesl of Mediocre But arrogant, it definitely lacks in appeal and creativity. The story of Abbey continues from the B-school in Jamshedpur to the corporate world at Balwanpur Industries.
The author is successful in bringing out the dilemma that Abbey faces when his classmates are getting promoted to managerial levels fast wherein he gets stuck as deputy manager because of his companies policies. Certain issues in the book puzzle the author - like why did he have to choose Ayesha as his wife when he had already figured out how incompatible they are. He needn't have waited for Keya but there could be a new character as well. The marriage which predictable failed brought Abbey back to the corporate office of Balwanpur Industries in Delhi. Over the few months, there is a predicatble return of Keya. Well by the name the novel ends you realize that the more Abbey tries to sort out his life, the more it gets complicated.
Certain times the best solution to any problem is time like the case of Abbey losing his job and eventually becoming the Director the company. Rascal Rusty makes a very brief appearance and so do other classmates of Abbey's. The novel could have left Hathi alive coz we are definitely gonna miss his golden words. Capt Sobti was quite a character and the best part was the grey shades of his nature that get revealed through Nasha - that was indeed an interesting twist. And we wonder whether Cauvita gets her dialogues in the third novel of M-B-A series! The novel ends with Abbey moving up the corporate ladder and his persoanl life getting messier than before just like the previous one.
So we are wondering how long before Abbey can actually find and retain love. Will keya be back? Will Cauvita be the new interest? Or will Ayesha come back in a new way? That's for the author to answer. As of now, this book is a nice read on one of those lazy sunday afternoons and specially if you have been in a B - school - coz certain things are just stay the same in all Business schools.:)
