Sorry buddies. I really don't wanna spoil the fun here, but since I am supposed to write an opinion here, I gotta say that though I like the show, its most definitely not the best one around.
I know most of the people who read this will be liking Bakra. As a matter of fact, out of complete honesty, I have to admit, I used to be hooked by the show too. But, that was when Bakra actually started out. That was when Cyrus was a 'relatively' unknown guy. the theme of the show rested on making fun of situations, and making people end up in them. The show did not really mean any harm and the stream was very clear, well planned, and well meaning alongwith being extremely funny. the one singular reason why the show stood out from all the other hundreds of prrank shows out there was coz of cyrus. He rally does have a great comic timing. Infact, alongwith Shekhar Suman and Javed Jaffery, and to some extent, Sajid Khan, he is one of the best comics in the Indian Tele-scene.
The sad part is that the show, now no longer sticks to the base it started out with. The shows deteriorated and they now do really corny stuff. Basically, stupid, illogical stuff, that only ends up hurting a lot of people. Seems, their new funda is to embarass as many people as they can. And it is hardly laughable. In fact, a lot of times, I feel pity for some of the poor people who end up being the joke. Cyrus sometimes picks poor daily wagers, or labourers or thela-wallas. These poor blokes end up being the joke and really, if we cannot help these hard workers, we atleast should try and respect them. The fact is, how many times does Cyrus pick on people from the richer class. How many times has he played a prank on people in cars or rich buyers in big stores. Its mostly in small restaurants, or roadside dhabas or just plain on the street. I just think the show really had degraded beyond humour and its time the producers either revamped or stopped the show altogether. Cyrus is way too good a comic to be bound by an erstwhile cheap show that Bakra has now become.
I know a lot of you might have differing opinions but please, spare a thought for people who work their a** off all day just to get a days food for their family, and then they end up being the buttt of stupid jokes meant to please an overtly insanely sadistic urban viewership. Please spare a thought.
