Yet again a mind blowing music from A.R.Rahman. Review on Kangalal Kaidhi Sei - Music Songs

Kangalal Kaidhi sei(Arrest with eyes)

A.R.Rahman has come up with a mind blowing melodies this time after a little disaapointing ''Enakku 20 Unakku 18''.The combination of director Bharathiraja and ARR has always delivered a fresh music so far in movies like ''Kizhakku seemayilae'',''Karuthamma'',''Anthimantharai'' and ''Tajmahal'' and in these films ARR experimented a lot with tamil folk.But this time it is a different music with all love melodies.All songs impressed me in first listening itself.There some ARR albums in 90's like Pudhiya mugam,Maymadham,EnswasaKaatrae,Duet,Tajmahal and recently Kadhal virus which had extraordinary melodies of ARR but was not recieved well by the common audience for some strange reasons.This album may also get added to the above list.

1.Introduction speech by Bharathiraja

The content of the speech is Kangalal kaidhi sei,a young man who has not seen first moon,first rain ahnd first tide when sees first love in his eyes and falls in it,how it will be and we have arrested his eyes and locked in the celluloid screen.I think as love is not defined,it is still living.As it is a music of love,a musical storm which created waves all over the world A.R.Rahman and his white and black keys in his piano has delivered a sweet,lovable and soul stirring music.

2.Cindrella

Lyrics: Pa.Vijay

The beats that sounds in the song is similar to the beats in the song ''Sonnalum kaepadhillai'' in Kadhal virus.The tune is very melodious.It is nice to hear Hariharan after a long back in ARR's music.He has delivered his best elevating the song.His voice modulation in the song has given complete feel to the song.The lyrics of Pa.Vijay is also good.His comparison of the girl to the Cindrella flower deserves appreciation.The way ARR used sax in this song is completely different from that in ''Duet''.And ARR is best in using harmonies in all his songs and has done a good job in this song also with voices singing ''Konji Konji vandhaal,Minji minji ponaal'' at correct places.

3.Anarkali

Lyrics: Pa.Vjay

This song is also good melody and ARR has used tabla well for the whole song and the alapana in the begining is sung well by kadhir,murdasa and it is like the background alapana in film ''Bombay'' that sounds when arvind swamy meets and falls in love with manisha in initial scenes of the movie sung by Shankarmahadevan. It is just a comparison I don't say that he has used the same again and both are different. Anyhow ,it is very good and it is simply ARR style and I hum it again and again.Another great thing about the song is Lyrics by Pa.Vjay what a thoughtful and imaginative lyrics,good job Vijay.The same pair Karthik and chitrasivaraman who sung ''Ale Ale'' song in Boys has paired againa and both of them have done a great job especilly Karthik and I think this is why ARR is encouraging freshers all the time.

4.Theekuruviyai

Lyrics:Thenmozhi

This is my favourite song in this album.A very rare tune of all time.The lyrics of Thenmozhi synchronises well with such a different tune in this song.I think song is first written and then composed by ARR otherwise it is difficult to write for this tune and also to this much apt to the tune.Harini has done a fabulous job in this song espaecially her fast twists and modulations in the swaram at the end of the song.New voice Mukesh has some traces of Karthik and UnniKrishnan.The mandolin music in this song is similar to the mandolin composition in the song ''Malaghalae'' in Lovebirds.

5.En uyir Thozhliyae

Lyrics: Pa.Vijay

ARR has used piano in this song and experimented with it.Unni menon is back in ARR music and his voice is still fresh.The violin orchestration in the song is simply mind blowing.Again the lyrics is by Pa.Vijay and good lyrics again.Chinmayee has given her best in this song after ''Kannathil Muthamittal''.Her voice is sweet,sweeter,sweetest.The way in which ARR has tuned the last lines of the two charanams ''po po yen asai theerndhadhu'' and ''thool thool thool aanadhunmai'' is simply superb and has ARR's touch.

6.En thamizhamma

Lyrics: Kabilan

It is an enjoyable song with lyrics like modern tamil teen girls singing about themselves.The main theme that sounds in the song is similar to one Bharathiyar song.The lyrics by kabilan is also good and especially the pallavi of the song is different and it is difficult to translate in any other language.You may search where is the voice of Blaaze in the song when you listen for the first time but he is there.He is simply pronouncing tamil letters ''kaa naa cha gnya ta '' and ''a aa e ee oh ooh'' often in the background of the song.
