No doubt, it's a novel full of fun and of course, some kind of adventure.It's a "must read" for all those students who are seeking admission into a particular university/school.The language is simple and full of flavour.
The day opal was born, her parents wanted her to go to Harward university for a bright future.The story is based on this theme only and further,it's woven beautifully by the author. Each step ,idea,movement,thought and even the room of the girl was set in a style which kept on reminding her about Harward (in her parents' words"the gateway to success")
When you read the novel, you come across certain points which really make you laugh.The way her parents have made those plans-"HOWGIH" (How Opal Will Get Into Harward)and "HOWGAL"(How Opal Will Get A Life) are really one of a kind and make us think that how can some people make plans for everything in life?
But the most significant fact about the novel is that it gives us certain messages.Yes, messages which are related to everybody's life(especially-the students).It tells us that sometimes this world wants us to change according to its own needs.Sometimes simple people have to become sophiticated personalities else the world outside takes them to be a fool.
The other important message of the novel is that we all need to have a goal in our life.A goal, a dream for which we should live every moment of our life,enduring to make it come true.But in between we should not forget that God has given us this life to enjoy also.The little joys of everyday life should not be sacrifed for the sake of one big break or opportunity,for which we keep on waiting.
The novel ,in its simplest of form, tells us that sometimes we may fall into the pits of life but we should not give up and should keep on trying. Because sometimes life makes us fall but we need to rise again, to stand again to proove to this world that who we are!
Regarding the author, I would like to say that as she is a student herself so she has been successful in putting up the picture of a student's life, beautifully.
