Asfs glamour , a full option bike

I had brought this stunning bike after selling my 17 yr old cd100 deluxe. I had done much review about this bike and booked glamour bike. I am among the first few owners of this model (new graphics and asfs engine). I wanted a comfortable bike with self start. The price of passion and glamour is only slightly different , i decided that glamour is value for money and i wanted to have a change from 100 cc engine which i had enough experience to 125cc quantum core engine of glamour.


Compared to previous version i noticed that torque has increased, increased mileage and smoothest transmission (less noice, vibration and harshness in higher speeds).


Quantum core engine developed by honda is much more advanced than the 100cc engine of passion.


Comparison of glamour asfs with gladiator, shine, tvs star city, pulsar, discover (it is my perception may not be true always). I took test ride gladiator which did not give me confidence of a rugged bike, more over the torque claimed is not felt in ride. Regarding shine, i took my friends bike for a ride, felt torque better but at the cost of high rpm, hence you can feel vibration on your hands. Even many owners complaint much more vibration above 60 speed. I felt the engine sound while riding just like auto. Starcity did give more confidence in ride , good shocks, refined engine, but at the cost of power, which you will feel with a pillion rider.


Pulsar did give optimum power to mileage ratio, but long lasting performance i doubt. You will get good smooth performance in beginning , but will deteriorate on time, noises will start to intervene.


Discover is much more balanced, but still lacks durability and refinement. Consistency is not guaranteed in performance.


Comparison of new glamour (125cc asfs, self start ) with new passion plus (100cc , self start)


(asfs is advanced swirl flow induction system) to deliver increased mileage and performance.(similar to bajaj dtsi - si (swirl induction)

Actually the earlier version(which my brother brought 1 month before my purchase (oct 2009) was having following problems 1. Gear shift is tight and not perfect, torque less, vibration more, mileage less(45-50 in city) and no sporty feeling. I have booked after that and i got new model with asfs engine for which the above problems are rectified (refurbished model). Even company is claiming more than 60 km/l i got touched 60 plus mileage many times (in less busy roads and careful riding). That is why u can see more glamour with asfs engine on road. It is heavy and will give big bike feel (compared to passion plus which is over priced) and i took ride in new passion plus, which will come no where in terms of performance of new refurbished glamour. Glamour(125cc, self start) price is only slightly more that new passion plus (100cc with self start) and truly glamour is value for money


More details about quantum core engine


The 125cc quantum core engine is engineered to provide better fuel efficiency without affecting power delivery specially between in the riding range (0-60 kmh). Hero honda uses a combination of various technologies to achieve this result.


Digital cdi - advanced microprocessor ignition system


Digital cdi has 10 stage mapping between ignition timing and rpm thereby providing precise ignition timing at various engine rpms. This technology helps economise on fuel consumption.


Throttle control ignition system (tcis)


Digital throttle sensor is added in carburettor, which changes the ignition timing according to the engine rpm, thereby ensuring better combustion of fuel, resulting in increased fuel efficiency.


Friction reduction


A. Needle bearing has been added on rocker arm as well as rocker arm shaft to reduce friction thereby enhancing the fuel efficiency


B. Piston has been modified and tin coating has been added on piston so as to reduce friction leading to better performance


C. Width of cam lobe has been reduced to reduce friction, thereby increasing the efficiency of the engine


Modification in port design of engine valves


The port design of engine valves has been modified to prevent loss in flow of fuel and air mixture,


Reduction in load of camshaft. With the change in the design of valve actuating mechanism, load on the cam shaft has been reduced, resulting in better performance. Change in material of cylinder head. Aluminium die cast cylinder head with cast iron has been adopted for better heat dissipation, resulting in improved performance of the engine. Additional earthing device. The additional earthing device ensures reduction in resistance and improved spark intensity resulting in increased efficiency of the engine.
