The end of another long year is almost coming up. All of us are getting older by another one year. During this period some of us must have achieved some thing, some are yet to achieve, of course there are people like me who does not have any goal, they know only two words, “Charoibeti Charoibeti” i.e. travel and travel by dint of which you can enjoy the blessings of nature you can feel, know the behavior of different people all around us, all over India or world.

In India winter is the ideal time for any jungle tour or trek. Of course this is absolutely my personal opinion. At this period of the last year I visited “Gorumara National Park”. I was charmed with the enchanting beauty of this green forest of the northern part of West Bengal. Days have changed, may be 15 or 20years ago those who visited this reserve forest, to day they will say it has become too croudy. Yet even now it is so beautiful you can really enjoy it. You can hear the never ending songs of the birds, some of which you have never seen in your life. Definitely you will be charmed to see the wild rhino and elephants of this jungle besides the spotted deer though you may not be lucky enough to see a tiger, which are also available in this forest.

To stay inside the jungle you have to book the forest rest house much earlier than your tour program. If you forgot or else you are in a hurry then also this reserve forest will not deprive you. At least five private hotels though outside the jungle area, are waiting for you with their cordial invitation.

Inside this beautiful greenery you can also stay at “Chapramari” forest rest house, “Murthy” forest rest house or in “Jhalong” forest rest house. Two more attractive places are there in this region viz. “Naora valley Hydel Project” and “Jaldhaka Hydel Project”.

The river Jaldhaka has the combined joint presence of three more rivers viz. Nichu, Dichu and Bindichu. This project is situated at Bindu, in the border of West Bengal and Bhutan. If you have enough time in your hand you can visit Bhutan by just crossing a hill top from Bindu.

Those who love forests love greenery and wilderness of the jungle must pay a visit to the Gorumara National Park especially in a winter full moon day.

May be important to you.

To reach Gorumara from Kolkata you have to take a journey by train from “Sealdah”. Apart from “Darjeeling mail” though some more trains are available “Kanchankanya Express” is the best. Your train journey will end at “Mal Junction” from “Mal Junction” private taxi & auto rickshaws are available to reach Gorumara via Chalsa. For F.R.H booking you have to contact D.F.O Chalsa, North Bengal. You can also stay at hotel “Green View” at Gorumara. At Jhalong private hotels are available, you can stay there at your own convenience. There is no hotels at Bindu, you have to cover this place from Jhalong only. You may also contact “The Destination” at 09830415808.
