Surprisingly and interestingly the last day of the year is Friday so it give a chance to release the last film of the year on the very last day 31st December, and the credit goes to Dil maange more.

Its also relates to the title that despite of the fact that the year has been ended, the cinegoers are still thirsty for more better cinema and their dil maange more good films and quality cinema. But the good news is that that the ending cinematic venture of the year is not at least disappointing, but it?s a light and comic movie that can entertain u for good two plus hours.

>>The story goes like this: DIL MAANGE MORE talks about the myriad phases of teenage romance, through the eyes of Nikhil [Shahid Kapoor], who spends most of his time playing football in Samarpur.

And when Nikhil is not indulging in his pet passion, he romances with Neha [Soha Ali Khan]. The two seem committed to each other, till Neha decides to leave for Mumbai, to train as an air-hostess, a dream that means more to her than everything else.

Nikhil follows her to Mumbai, where he stumbles on to Shagun [Ayesha Takia], who resides in his neighbouring flat.

Nikhil keeps pursuing Neha to come back but with no success. But the lover with a never-say-die attitude decides to stay put till his lovWhile Neha in the midst of completing her air-hostess course, Nikhil meets Sara [Tulip Joshi], his colleague at his workplace. So, who is finally destined for Nikhil? Is it Neha, Sara or Shagun?

Shahid kapoor is as usual good and energetic as he is in his early twenties but still has to be groomed further as an actor and a mature actor not just a teenage's favourite sweet innocent boy doing lot of cute things.

Soha is Saif?s sister and so the expectations are high, she doesn?t disappoints but is not as great as karisma?s sister kareena But still better then Kajol?s dull and unattractive/ less talented sister Taneesha. You can put her in Esha Deol?s category but I am sure she will improve much more in the coming days as compared to slow and not so steady Esha. The role suite to Soha because her ''mean expressions'' and shrewd face cuts make this bit selfish character easier for her, but she seriously has to work very hard on her face making, make up, improvement of looks and dress sense , and most important of all choosing right, strong and meaningful characters and films.

The other two girls are equally good specially Ayesha Takia, but I wonder why the director gives her the best role in presence of Sharmila Tagore's daughter and Saif ali khan's sister...??? specially when it was the debut of a star daughter and sister.

''Meray Yaar ki shaadi hai'' fame Sanjana (now Tulip Joshi) looks very cute and charming , much more beautiful then her first film but her character is not that strong and also there is nothing much in her character that could prove her as a best actress like her first film and her upcoming and highly praised in film festivals offbeat movie ''Matro bhoomi''. But still she leaves a strong impact and looked very very cute in the song ''Aap kay pyar main''. I am surprised when I read in an interview that she (Tulip Joshi) is a well known food scientist, that is why doing films is just her part time hobby, she is not a fulltime bollywood heroine because her busy profession as a scientist doesnt give her that much time to do films every year, and thats why she appeared in a film after 2 years of gap of her debut and successful film ''Meray yaar ki shaadi hai''.

>>Direction wise the movie is a light entertainer and the director tried to give it a fresh, light, and colourful look like HUMTUM and is successful to a major extent. Music is passable, nothing to sit and listen at ur cd/cassette player, except one or two tracks.

Now check some short likings and dislikings of mine about this film; first the plus points:

  1. Different story

  2. Nice combination of three fresh and eye friendly :) heroines

  3. Very strong first half

  4. Good title rhythm and song ''aap kay pyar main''

  5. Nice picturisation of almost all of the songs and eye catching locations

  6. Shahid kapoor's acting and his some scenes like with Ayesha's mom and strawberry basket picking shots.

Now the negatives:

  1. Average to disappointing second half

  2. Giving unnecessary importance to new face Ayesha Takia in presence of Soha Ali Khan

  3. Why Soha changed so much from a selfish girl to a selfless sincere lover

  4. Shahid's true love was Soha then why he rejected her when she came back to him and preferrrd Ayesha who was nothing for him

  5. Why Soha gave up that easily her true love?

6 Why Tulip Joshi that seemed a strong headed decent girl in first half acted like a bimbo in second half?

  1. Gulshan Grover's character was un convincing , un real and least exciting

  2. Some insane scenes in pre climax and not so convincing ending for all of the characters.

On the whole the film is a good timepass , but quality conscious movie lovers like me still have to say yeh DIL Maange More. So the movie lives upto its name if not exactly upto all expactations ;) .

And Chaltey Chaltey a very HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you, and my best wishes for all of you for 2005.
