I had been to various places on weekends with my family. This time I and my family was in search of a unique place outside the peripheri of Chandigarh.
The Chatbir Zoo at the Chandigarh-Patiala Highway, around 12 Km from my residence at Sector 31, Chandigarh.
We reached at 1230 in the afternoon(Zoo timing, 0900-1700, Monday closed). Paid Rs 20 for the private car parking. The ticket costs Rs 15 per head. Children below 3 are allowed free of cost. For carying camera, I paid Rs 60.
One of the attraction of this zoo is the 12 seater, battery operated Golf cart in white colour. The ticket cost is Rs 50 per head for one and half hour Jungle safari. The operator was a sardar who was very humble and worked as driver cum guide.
The safari started at 1 PM. It was started with a small lake with many beautiful swans. We kept moving. The driver, Sukhwinder Singh, Sukkhi kept stopping for all of us at every worthy places and waited for us, till al 12 came us- never put pressure on us to do haste.
We kept enjoying the worthy places of zoo, till the Lion Safari started in a separate mini bus.Ticket Rs 20 for 15 minutes ride. We all spotted two live lions in it`s natural habitat.
We kept our journey with spotting various fauna like the leopard, the tiger, sloth bear, white peogeons, white buck, zebra, bear, porkupines, crocodile, python and many type of night roaming creature(simulated environment was created for them).
A special attraction was the bird section situated in a semicircular fashion(see the video also).
One place, I saw the the method of adopting a zoo fauna with subscription rate, for example for a single dove it was Rs 40 per month and for a crocodile it was some 2000 Rs. Zoo authority shall receive money with the receipt and keep the animal with them only. But it can be a fulfilling experience for nature lovers.
Our journey ended with `all is well` feeling.
