Vulgarity at its height. Review on Andaaz - Old

This film ANDAAZ starring Anil kapoor, juhi chawla and karisma kapoor was relaeased in 1994 and was a heavy budget David Dhawan laugh riot.

Story of this film goes like that Anil Kapoor is a simple natured teacher while karisma his student. Despite of teh student teacher realtion and age difference, karisma had a big crush on Anil Kapoor and tried to seduce and attracted him by various means. At last Anil got rid of his naughty student’s antics by getting married to a poor orphan girl Juhi Chawla who was a brainless, illetrate but good at heart woman.

Karisma tooks the challenge to snatch Anil under Juhi’s nose but with time felt sympathy for Juhi and ends helping the couple.

The story line is good and i must say that two films were copy of Andaz, one was Zameer(Ajay, Ameesha and Mahima) while the students and colleg kidnap sequences were carbon copied in SRK’s Main hoon na.

The direction of comedy king David Dhawan is par excellence and you enjoy every bit of the film as it is a highly entertaining movie. The sets and the expenses on the songs picturisation is too much and clearly evident from the lavish look of the film. Specially the songs ' dil ka panchee boley ku ku ku ku' and 'nacho gao filmain dikhao' are real treet for eyes to watch.

Performance wise Anil is likable in Beta kinda simple man’s character. karisma is very energetic and very glamourous in her role and she clearly over shadowed Juhi in whole of the film. But still Juhi deleivers a lots of laughs and smile of viewr’s face by her funny acting and role.

The only thing that I hated about this film is a very heavy dose of vulgarity and female nudity.

In almost all of the songs, very bad angels of the heroines were shown which was extermly offensive.

Also the songs’ lyrics were very shameless .. ..

just read and.. imagine.

Main maal gadee tu dhakka laga, garam ho gaya engine mera dhakka deta ja.

I am sure that if that film was not vulgar it would be a block buster hit because it was a extermly interesting, entertaining and full paisa vasool film that keeps the viewew very very happy from start till end. But due to the height of vulgarity, shameless angels and skin show and extermly dirty lyrics the families just ran away from the film for whom the film was made and thus it was a big failure in big cities and jsut average on single screens and towns due to its vulgarity and sex-oriented janta in those small areas.

There was a huge protest first time in the history of India against any film (Andaaz) by woman rights organisations for female exploitation on silver screen.
