I am Airtel's customer using their Mobile (Postpaid) & Broadband services for more than 2 years in Madhapur, Hyderabad. This is a review about the broadband services. It is very recent that I started reviewing my bills and comparing the charges for similar usage with other service providers.
I had subscribed to plan of Rs. 1099/- (excluding taxes) for a bandwidth of 4Mbps with a FUP upto 10GB. After the limit the speed would be 256Kbps.
Though you see other service providers reducing the charges and giving better speeds, Airtel increased the charges for this plan to Rs. 1200/- (excluding taxes).
I didn't really bother too much about this since the service was quite good and any reported issues were resolved within the committed time frame.
I happen to visit Airtel site to review the latest available tariffs and found that the plan with similar bandwidth limitation is available at Rs. 850/- under the name "Abhinandan New 850".
Implies I am spending flat Rs. 350/- more without my knowledge.
I immediately called up Customer care to have my plan changed to this. The CSE (Customer Support Executive) took the request and promised to have it changed in 5 working days.
Days passed but no confirmation on the request. Called back to CSE, their record shows that they have tried reaching me (without my knowledge) both on my landline & mobile phone but
answer them. Result of the request - REJECTED. Reason for rejection - The listed tariffs are available only to new customers.
I tried explaining them basics of business - Who should get a preference ? Is a customer who has been using the service (for some time) or some one who is yet to come.
The CSE had no explanation apart from the above and all they could say is "Backend team's decision" who were not reachable.I was left totally astonished for the kind of decision that the Backend team has taken which is illogical to me.
I wanted to give a message to all existing Airtel customers to review the plans that are currently in esp AP Circle and see how much more are you spending.
