The movie stars Rannvijay Singh, who we have all seen earlier in forgettable movies; but mostly, we remember him for his rocking emceeing on TV adventure shows. He is well-built, has pretty good expressive skills and acting manner, and for once, I agree with the previous reviewer fenil_seta that he deserves better roles.
I watched the movie on my laptop, so the wow factor was missing anyway. Since I wasn't tied down to a paid seat, I preferred to watch the movie with breaks, and practically realised that it did not really demand undivided attention! The story line was different from the usual bhootiya movies, and the backdrop of a zealous journalist who goes to a decrepit textile mills premises to shoot scenes reminds one of the real life incident in Mumbai where a woman journalist who ventured into an abandoned mill premises was gang-raped.
I will not be writing a detailed synopsis, and I do think that fenil_seta has written an excellent review, so without trodding on his toes, let me give you a fresh perspective. I am a rational person, and watch irrational movies only for a) discovering flaws b) entertainment and c) finding something interesting to do. This, then, was my motive for seeing 3 A.M.
Having said that, I found that I already knew that the character played by one of the main protagonists would be found to be not really what they claim to be. The other players of the story were quite good in their acting, especially Kavin Dave(who plays the role of Raj), whose expressions of fear and anxiety were well-etched on the screen. Rann Vijay himself plays an understated role, and he comes off very convincingly. The role of his wife-to-be(character of Sara) is played by Anindita Nayar is too small to be discerned or calibrated, but the song sequences between Mr. Rannvijay and Ms. Nayar are quite well done, even if they aren't big budget fare.
In the end, the movie failed to move me, as I wasn't convinced of the plot and the way the latter half of the movie panned out, I was dozing in my chair when I should have been sitting at the edge of my seat with my heart palpitating.
See the movie only if ghost stories and horror are your potion. Not otherwise.
