Hello to all Msians, well this review is over one of my fav films from bollywood, 1942, a love story. the movie was released in 1994, n it starred Anil kapoor, manisha koirala, Jackie Shroff, n Anupam kher. legendry actor such as Pran n danny dezongapa too had very imp. role in the movie.
IN this review, I have concluded both 1942, A love story, as a film review, n also its music review..
The Movie was directed and prduced by Vidhu Vinod chopra,, a fine very director, who had earlier made very nice critical film, such as KHamosh, it had naserudin shah, n shabana azmi, n another famous, Parinda., well now he is famous for his munna bhai series. of films,
ok coming back to the movie, it was grt, simply briliant, everything right from direction, the story, the cast, acting by each one of them, n specially the music, which was the last of the legendry musician, R.D.burman, n the lyrics of Javed Akhtar, every single song in the movie was a melody,
First its music review:
Kumar Sanu sang, , “Ek Ladki Ko Dekha”, the song is as whimsical and breezy as it is picturized. The adornmentof a love has been brought out simply excellently here.
, “Pyar Hua Chup Kaise” in which Kavita Krishnamurthycarries of the soft toned tune to areas of musical extraordinaire.
The teaser number, “Rooth Na Jana” brings us back tothe golden era with its backdrop consisting essentially of the fluteareas. The song is at times upbeat, sweet and Kumar Sanu once againemotes excellently.
“Kuch Na Kaho”, is featured twice, once by Kumar Sanu and the other by the illustrious Lata Mangeshkar. The slow tune is once again delightfully intertwined with the R.D.Burman touch in a violin orchestrated tune that is a must listen to putit lightly.
I would go as far as to say, “Rhim Jhim” is the bestsong of the soundtrack, even Kumar Sanu and Kavita Krishnamurthy, cant create the same magic, again, as this song did. . Javed Akhtar’s lyrics are irresistibly romantic and the picturizations of the tunes in a rainy sequence was perfect.
The slow, meaningful, “Yeh Safar”.The tune speaks about the sad journey through hardships and while the singers voice was truly meant to suit Jackie Shroff’s character, thevoice also creates a deep, dark, sad mood for the song, allowing it totouch the chords.
Now for the movie: the story goes like this:
In 1942, Indiawas engulfed in turmoil: protests against British rule were sweepingthe nation, and Britain was responding with increasingly brutalsuppression. Against this dramatic backdrop, two young people namedNaren(Anil Kapoor) and Rajeshwari(Manisha Koirala) fall in love inthe small town of Kasauni.
Their families have opposing politicalbeliefs, however, and as events escalate, the two are faced with difficult decisions as they struggle to stay together.
The story runs on two parallel lines one is the love story between Rajjo(Manisha Koirala) and Narender(Anil Kapoor). The other story is about the assassination of general Douglas.
JackieShroff as dashing freedom-fighter Shubhankar. n anupam kher playing manisha father, both these roles were done to perfection.
I have to add this, this is the only film where I liked Manisha koirala, she looked absolute beauty.
This moving historicalepic is expertly written, acted, directed, and scored very well, . It wont be wrong to call this one a master piece. absolute delight to watch, or even listen to its song.
At last I recommend this movie for a watch, its worthwhile, n also listening to its song, R.d. burman was definatly a maverick,
MSians do watch this flick once, or if already seen can share there views on it, Hoping u all will like the review, n comment on it.
