Famous Five. Review on Aamir Khan

I have no doubt that soon'Aamir Khan' would become a brand name in bollywood. The movies would sell with his name in star cast.

It is worth studying his come back as a hero after giving flops such as - Aatank Hi aatank, Mela, Love Love Love, Tum Mere ho, Daulat Ki Jung.

I feel that following five movies would be his greatest, not necessary that all off them were blockbusters.

LAGAAN

Directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar, this film almost won us Oscar but sure won the hearts of all Indians all over the globe. Aamir starring as a village chap standing against the mighty britishes ruling India. He accepts the challenge to play cricket match against them. If he wins the match for the village, they do not pay the'Lagaan' - a major portion of their agricultural yield. Excellent acting, great songs and great climax. Aamir really looks like a village simpleton ultimately becoming a hero.

SARFAROSH

Aamir plays an ACP with an ultimate aim to wipe out the terrorism caused by illegal weapons deals across the border. One should see the looks in his eyes in one particular scene - when a terrorist is killed by his allies due to sheer negligence of few police officers. Very swift action, great speed of the storyline, excellent editing and once again great songs. Sonali Bendre got a good role which she did good justice. Only if our police force had a dozen of such ACPs.

DIL CHAHATA HAI

Aamir had a special hair-cut for this movie to get looks of a young graduate from a rich family. Almost all the trendy collegians copied his hairstyle once the movie was released. Well I felt that his two co-stars Akshaye Khanna & Saif did great roles of their career too, which made this film a success. I would say that you read my review on this movie in MS.

ANDAAZ APNA APNA

Pure time pass movie in which Aamir starred with Salman Khan. Both playing good-for-nothing youngsters hoping to marry a dirt rich girl Raveena, which is actually Karishma played by Raveena and Karishma. What follows is a laughing riot. OP Nayyar made a comeback with old-style music. Shakti Kapoor & the great Paresh Rawal(double roll) added the laughing gas. Read my review on this movie in MS.

RANGEELA

Aamir plays a sadak chaap guy selling cinema tickets in black. He has a soft corner for Urmila Matondkar(debut) who gets a break and becomes a film heroin. Aamir expects to get credit for her success but she fells for her co-star played by Jackie Shroff. The end is predictable and well filmed. The music was very hot and already had purchased two audio cassettes and then a CD as the cassettes were damaged as I played them n-times.

These five films show Aamir is five different characters, which are not stereotypes like in other hindi movies. That makes them so special. A real versatile actor of today.
