My dad was very fond of girls and he used to play with my cousin, we were unfortunate that we didn’t had sister. My Mom anticipated girl child while my wife was expecting and dad was no more to express his wish. Many a times my wife wanted to know my preference on either baby girl or boy. My thought and I used to express it’s a blessing, and I accept it. This was a part of my belief that religion thought us. However God blessed us with baby boy who has growing up in this world. But even today I could not understand what difference that a boy or girl can make?
It was always a jovial mood at my landlords house, however from past few week ago I could makeout the unhappy feelings and expression on their faces. I came to know that their daughter inlaw was blessed with second girl child. May be they were expecting a BoY
I always felt that boy or girl wouldn’t make any difference in the way we bring up. It is parents & society which incluate the values in them. Society exposes the culture that they can adopt. When they are matured enough they have the right to choose which is good & bad to them. There is always support, guidance and affection shared by parents, relatives & friends. I read some where that“ Son will be son until he get married and daughter is daughter until the life”. In the holy books it is written, a man will leave his parents to join his wife and both become one.
The boy’s parents always feel, due to the human tendency when the love and care gets diluted, the preference gets changed. Its oblivious ! however for the girl, once she is married the bonding with her parents grows stronger, the mother becomes her friend and her dad becomes advisor. they ensure that their daughter listens and adopts their plan.
Girl is capable showing the empathy and provide extra care during the old age of the parents.Once married the girl feels and express herself in cloud Nine when her parents visit her.
Poor boys - many a times his own parents are left alone at the old age. They will be only foreseeing for the day and rejonevate the old memory of good time they spent, looking forward in the hope that a day will come and will be happy !
Bottom-line
Today we are at 21st century and we call ourselves as generation next. But our thoughts and thinking still remain that of Old age. Unfortunate it is !!
