Mobile phone has become an integral part of my life for the past 10 years. Having no mobile phone with me while I am outside the house somehow seems to be a scary thought. Even in office I carry the device always with me. So it so happened two days back that I forgot my mobile at home.
I discovered it only when I got into the bus and opened my handbag to take my favourite thing to listen to music as always. Lo it was not there. First I panicked. Then I understood I had not taken it and decided to see how the day will progress without the device.
Now let me start my day with the bus journey. Usually everyday I will switch on the music in mobile and will either fall asleep or will lost in the music till I reach office. On that day after a long time I started observing the way I was travelling. I looked in wonder. There was so much greenery around which I had missed to see. There were beautiful hoardings in the side of the road adverstising a range of products. Some of those hoardings were really good. Then saw the Akkulam lake. Was petrified that I missed the beautiful lake and its scenary though I travelled the road twice a day. So that day I reached office after observing the nature and the road I was travelling. I really felt refreshed than drowsy.
Now coming to office. Dropped a mail to everyone concerned I had not taken my cellphone. Hence I will be available only in the extension. Result uninterupted meetings. Else during meeting one call or the other will come in my mobile some of which I am forced to take. Having no cellphone with me ensured nobody could disturb my scheduled meetings in meeting room.
Then comes the lunch and tea time. Had lunch and tea after a long time undisturbed. Enjoyed a good chat with my friends during lunch time and tea time. There was no one to interrupt this break time with unnecessary calls. Reason I didnt had my mobile.
Finally on my way back home I had a good and lively discussion with my car pool partner which otherwise rarely happens as both of us will be listening to the music from my mobile.
So the day I forgot my mobile I felt a human being once again. Disconnected from the rest of the world I could enjoy the life in a very different way and learned an important lesson too. It is better to be disconnected once in a while in life. It helps you to understand life from a different perspective and leave you rejuvanated.
