guilt-free

Many a times, we crave for a particular food, which most of the time does not happen to be healthy or tasty. It is ok to indulge in them as long as it is not regular. Who does not like jalebis and Kachoris? Digging into them especially large quantities sends the weighing scale mark zooming. Then a conscious, on-diet us decides to eat fat-free and simple food. One fine day suddenly a friend suggests a restuarant and our resolution gets weak then.

I had an idea this time. As we were in the restaurant, I was browsing the menu and found that one could feel less guilty if you do not sacrifice your taste and yet pamper your taste buds. At California Kitchen Pizza (St. louis, not Bandra) I saw multi-grain base topped neatly with Broccoli, cheese, tomatoes and sliced onions. Ok, multi-grain is much better than maida base. The second thing is you will never appreciate Broccoli more than now (atleast ghar mein itna acha nahi bann sakta) for it is cooked perfectly and is bottle green, neatly arranged on the pizza. The very sour tomato that has been sun-dried and flavoured using Italian spices will never gain appreciation had it been with a lot of cheese on the Pizza as that would kill the taste. I felt less heavy, happy for my fill of veggies and multi-grain aspect and of course the way it was arranged that tempted me to eat.

The paath ka saar is even if you eat something with guilt because it is junk, ensure that it has a healthier option. That is when you appreciate even the mild tastes and flavours which you may cease to notice when it is overpowered by a tastier option.
