Iron Maiden Rock Bangalore-Part 2

De Profundis: Post Kryptos’ performance we found time to refresh and relieve ourselves outside the arena. There were stalls built for refreshments and the makeshift restrooms at the corner. De Profundis is a UK based Doom metal band and their performance had all of us head-banging and moshing violently. Our previous encounters in the mosh pit were painful so we just decided to mosh cautiously among our group of eleven. But that only invited more freaks and this time we were suffered severe blows and injuries from other groups that had much huger individuals landing elbow, shoulder and head first on us. We then held our arms together and charged like bulls to get the others down and finally came out coughing, gasping for breath, soaked in sweat and blood. Their performance will surely be remembered and talked about a lot.

Lauren Harris: The daughter of the legendary Steve Harris (Founder and bassist of Iron Maiden) performed on the main stage with her band. She was the most disappointing of all the performers. We made abusive gestures at her, chanted Maiden, Good bye, F you bitch. Some of them were even hurled plastic cups and bottles at them. Did she deserve all that? Yes! Definitely at the time, since we were hungry for some good music rather than mediocre pop like performance, but not otherwise. Nevertheless, she was very HOT!

Brandon Ashley & The Silver Bugs: Another disappointing act from UK. Nothing much to say about them as the crowd flocked towards the main stage and this band hardly got noticed. You could call them fillers for the event. Occupying a place near the main stage for a long time was tiring and we stood there for over three hours before the main event started. The heat could be felt; we began to suffocate inside the packed crowd, but there was no turning back. Chances of a stampede looked certain, as we kept falling one over the other in turns but the great part was, every time we collapsed, we would be helped to stand back by the others. That was the kind of spirit Bangalore showed and treated each one of us like brothers belonging to the community of music that made each one of us proud.

Parikrama:Parikrama is the oldest Indian Rock band and they put up a performance that would be remembered. We had a sigh relief once they started especially after two mediocre performances of the day. They are heavily influenced by Rock n Roll, Blues and Iron Maiden. Parikrama are known for fusing Indian classical music with guitars, drums, keyboards, and did that with expertise on the occasion. They played three covers and two original compositions and their performance proved that they are more than just a talented band.
